Are conducted by an occupational therapist to assist in determining the most appropriate assistive technology devices for children who have difficulty accessing and using the computer due to their disability. The assessment may address seating and positioning needs, keyboard adaptation needs, alternative computer mice, and software.
Hardware and software resources are available for short-term loan (three weeks) so that children may have an opportunity to trial recommended equipment in their home and/or school environments before making plans to purchase the equipment.
Referrals are received from physicians, community occupational therapists, resource teachers, parents and others. All referrals are screened for appropriateness.
