Purpose of Clinic

The goal of this clinic is to provide ongoing care for clients with congenital myopathies, spinal muscular atrophy and associated disorders through a multidisciplinary approach to assessment, management and treatment.

The clinic team, including an orthopedic surgeon, pediatrician, respiratory physician, therapist, nurse clinician, respiratory therapist and social worker:

  • Review the health and functional status of the child, and
  • Work with the child and their family to manage complications such as respiratory problems, muscle weakness, and/or provide equipment and strategies to enhance mobility, independence and environmental access.


Written referral by physician.


The second Thursday morning of the month.

Medical and multidisciplinary services are available to children with varying physical and developmental conditions. A clinical nurse specialist is available to coordinate the services required by children with complex needs.
