The Rehabilitation Centre for Children is dedicated to providing Family Centred Care. We believe families are experts in the knowledge of their children’s needs and care. We work in partnership with families to assess the needs of children and to find solutions that optimize function and enhance quality of life. It is our aim to enable families to obtain the resources, knowledge and skills they need to direct the care of their children and to advocate on their behalf.
Our Family Support Network meets every two months from September to May on the last Tuesday of the month. It is open to all parents or caregivers of children with special needs regardless of diagnosis.
We have a counselor from the Individual Relationship Family Therapy group attend each meeting.
Each meeting begins with an informational component; past sessions have included: self-care for the caregiver, information about Children’s Special Services, adapted recreation, advocating for your child, the RDSP, school-age transitions and more.
