In May of 2000, the Rehabilitation
Centre for Children introduced its Family Council. The
Council is made up of families, professionals and members
of the wider community whose collective mission is to
ensure that the principles of family-centred care are
promoted, preserved and enhanced at the Rehabilitation
Centre for Children.
The Family Council consists of up to 12 members; at least
half of whom shall be parents, legal guardians, foster
parents or other family members who have had (or continue
to have) involvement with the Rehab Centre.
Three of the members are staff of the Centre. It is important
that the family members represent the diverse backgrounds,
skills, needs and perspectives of the many families who
use the Centre's services.
The Family Council meets a minimum of five times yearly.
The Council provides feedback, advice and counsel to the
management team of the Centre, reports on its activities
to the Centre's Board of Directors and involves itself
in the Centre's committees as necessary.
The facilitation of linkages between families and the
Centre, and community organizations, support groups and
associations are also goals of the Council.
The Family Council welcomes your input. If you would like
